13. Files

The Files application in d3VIEW allows you to save data onto the platform. Not all important data we use to make great decisions are high computing like simulations or tests. Files makes its possible for you to keep all your data in one place so you can stay more organized and efficient.

13.1. Uploading Files

Click on the upload icon at the top of the files main page to open the upload box. Upload files from your local computer by clicking or dragging-and-dropping into the upload box. You can also choose files from the server by clicking on the “Browse Server” link at the bottom right of the upload box.

You are welcome to add multiple files to upload. Once you have chosen your files, click on “Process” to watch your files upload. The upload bar will be located at the bottom right corner of your screen.

Supported Files

Here is a list of the supported files. Some files are still able to upload but won’t be available for viewing on the platform.

  • Text Files
  • JSON
  • CAD
  • STL
  • Image Files: PNG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF
  • Video Files: AVI, MVW, MOV, MPEG, M4V, MP4, WMV, SWF
  • Audio Files: WAV, MP3
  • Excel
  • PDF
  • Archival Files: RAR, TAR, ZIP, TGZ, GZ
  • Word
  • Powerpoint
  • Dyna Files
  • LSPost Files
  • Curve Files

13.2. Organizing Files

There are actions you can perform to organize your files on the application including creating new folders, moving files and copying files.

Creating a Folder

To create a new folder click on the new folder icon. Choose a name for your new folder and then hit “OK”.

Other Actions

Select a file by clicking on it. To move, click on the move icon and, to copy, click on the copy icon. You can also right click on a file to perform actions on it.

Both the move and copy windows will prompt you to pick a folder to move or copy the file over.

13.3. Viewing Files

Double click on a file to view its contents.

The file viewer window will open up to present the files contents. Some files are unavailable for viewing.
